Trial by Fire: Seeing the Elephant Hike

<div dir="auto">Join a Shiloh ranger on Saturday, August 15, for a special hike along the frontlines of Brigadier General Benjamin Prentiss’s 6th Division titled “Trial by Fire.” This 90-minute hike will examine the fighting experienced by green soldiers on both sides as they “saw the elephant” on the morning of April 6, 1862.</div>

<div dir="auto">If you would like to participate, call the Shiloh Visitor Center at (731) 689-5696 to sign up. Hikers should come wearing sturdy shoes, dressed for the weather, and bring drinking water. Sunscreen and insect repellant are recommended. Storms will cancel the hike.</div>

Naturalization Ceremony
<p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Celebrate America's Story at Shiloh National Military Park!</strong></p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd">As part of the nationwide celebration of <strong>America's 250th Anniversary</strong>, Shiloh National Military Park is proud to partner with the <strong>U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)</strong> to host a <strong>Naturalization Ceremony</strong> on the historic battlefield.</p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd">Join us on <strong>Saturday, August 22, at 12:00 p.m.</strong>, as we welcome approximately <strong>40 new citizens</strong> of the United States during this inspiring ceremony.</p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd">📍 <strong>Location:</strong> Front lawn of the Shiloh Visitor Center<br />🎟️ <strong>Admission:</strong> Free and open to the public</p>

Ranger Led Bicycle Tours
<p>Beginning in June and continuing through September, each last Saturday and Sunday of the month, a bicycle tour of Shiloh National Military Park will be offered. Those interested should arrive at the Visitor Center before 9am and gather on the front lawn, where the park ranger will meet you. Call the visitor center to obtain the topic of the tour the week of the program.<br /> <br /><strong>TOUR UPDATE - </strong></p>
<p class="isselectedend"><strong>From All Walks of Life: Leadership at Shiloh</strong><br /> <strong><em>Ranger-Guided Bicycle Tour<br /><br /></em></strong>Join a park ranger on <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;"><strong>Saturday, August 29</strong>, and <strong>Sunday, August 30</strong></span></strong><strong>,</strong> for a two-hour guided bicycle tour of the Shiloh Battlefield. Discover the stories of several of the military leaders who commanded troops during the Battle of Shiloh and learn about their lives before, during, and after one of the Civil War's bloodiest engagements.</p>
<p class="isselectedend">The tour begins at <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">9:00 a.m.</span></strong> and concludes at approximately <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">11:00 a.m.</span></strong> No registration is required. Participants should meet the ranger on the front lawn of the <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Shiloh National Military Park Visitor Center</span></strong> a few minutes before the tour begins.</p>
<p class="isselectedend">The ride covers approximately <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">six miles</span></strong> over a variety of terrain. Participants must provide their own bicycles and riding gear. Riders <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">16 years of age and younger are required to wear a</span> </strong><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">helmet</span></strong><strong>.</strong> All participants are encouraged to bring <strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">water, sunscreen, and insect repellent</span></strong><strong>.</strong></p>

Shiloh Celebrates Junior Ranger Day
<p>🎉 Shiloh National Military Park is excited to announce our 2026 Junior Day activities! 🎉</p>
<p>On September 29, we’re hosting TWO awesome Junior Ranger programs—one at the Shiloh battlefield and one at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center.</p>
<p>🌳 At Shiloh: Join a Nature Hike with a Ranger @ 10:00 am and 2:00 pm</p>
<p>📚 At Corinth: Read with a Ranger @ 10:00 am and 2:00 pm</p>
<p>Junior Rangers are encouraged to attend both programs! There will be an awards ceremony after the 2:00 pm sessions at both sites for those who completed both programs. Awards include a Jr Ranger goodie bag and a special Shiloh Jr. Ranger Battlefield Patch. </p>

End of the Season Cannon Firing Demonstrations
<p>In honor of the traditional last weekend of the summer season, Shiloh National Military Park will present its final Civil War cannon firing demonstrations of 2026 on Saturday, September 5.<br /><br />The Shiloh Cannon Crew will fire a historic 6-pounder Field Gun during the demonstrations. Each 20-minute program will explore the organization of Civil War artillery, the duties of the cannoneers, the types of ammunition they fired, and the procedures used to safely load and fire the gun.<br /><br />Demonstrations will be held across the street from the park's visitor center at the following times<br /><br />10:00 a.m.<br /><br />11:30 a.m.<br /><br />1:30 p.m.<br /><br />3:00 p.m.<br /><br />All programs are free and open to the public. End the summer with a BOOM! </p>

Ranger Led Bicycle Tour
<p>Beginning in June and continuing through September, each last Saturday of the month a bicycle tour of Shiloh National Military Park will be offered. Call the visitor center to obtain the topic of the tour the week of the program.<br /> <br />Water bottle for the ride is encouraged as the distance will be five miles or more, and will last about two hours or more. Helmet's are encouraged and required to be worn by those sixteen years of age or younger. For information call 731-689-5696.</p>
