CCC Living History Days
<p>Prince William Forest Park was created as Chopawamsic Recreation Demonstration Area by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936; groups of cabins in a forest oasis where children and young families from nearby cities could find 'relief' from the Great Depression. Join park rangers and volunteers at Prince William Forest Park as we celebrate the creation of the park by taking a deeper look at the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps and see what a day in the life of a CCC enrollee would look like! Watch living history reenactors demonstrate skills used to build and upkeep the cabin camps and see exhibits of CCC era tools and uniforms. Feel free to drop in at any time on Saturday, October 17 or Sunday, October 18 from 9:00am to 5:00pm to learn more about the CCC!</p>

Yoga in the Park
<p>Join us for Yoga in the Park at Prince William Forest Park, a peaceful outdoor class designed to help you unwind, stretch, and reconnect with nature. This Hatha yoga session focuses on gentle, mindful movement, breath awareness, and basic postures suitable for all levels—from beginners to experienced practitioners.<br />Surrounded by the natural beauty of the park, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down, build strength and flexibility, and enjoy a calming, supportive environment. Each class encourages balance between body and mind, leaving you feeling refreshed and grounded.</p>
<p> <br /><strong>Please note: Participants must bring their own yoga mat and any props they may need (such as blocks, straps, or blankets). Dress comfortably for the weather and bring water to stay hydrated.</strong></p>

Yoga will take place in a grassy, shaded open area near the park's visitor center and is weather dependent. Come breathe, move, and relax with us in the fresh air!</p>

Fall Foliage Hike
<p>Enjoy the beauty of autumn leaves and learn how to identify several different tree species in the park on the half mile long Algonquian Trail that stops at a scenic spot along Quantico Creek. Meet a ranger at Parking Lot I on the park's Scenic Drive for this hour long hike (about a 10 minute drive from the park entrance). Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.</p>

Graveyards and Ghosts Hike
<p>Explore stories of life, death, and ghosts on a two hike hike to two of the park's historic cemeteries. Hikes to the cemeteries involve off-trail hiking and small sections of bushwhacking. We recommend that you wear closed-toe hiking shoes and pants and bring water and bug spray on the hike.</p>

OSS Day
<p>Explore a little-known part of the park and tour a cabin camp built in the 1930s. Join park rangers at Cabin Camp 2 at Prince William Forest Park to learn more about the period of the park’s history in the 1940s when the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) trained spies in the park.</p>
<p>Take a rugged two mile hike off-trail with a ranger to an old OSS training ground at 9:00 am or 12:30pm and/or tour the cabin camp to learn more about the OSS. Hikes are limited to 30 visitors each and first-come, first-serve free tickets for the hike will be available at the event at Cabin Camp 2 starting at 8:30am. Unfortunately, the off-trail hike is inaccessible to wheelchairs and strollers. It is recommended to wear long pants and hiking shoes if planning to do the off-trail hike. </p>
<p>Guided cabin camp tours are offered to visitors after each hike and are open to all visitors. Visitors are also welcome to do a self-guided tour of the cabin camp anytime between 8:30am and 3:00pm. The cabin camp gates will close at 3:00pm.</p>
Lokalizacja: Physical address 17175 Mawavi Road, Triangle, VA. Park in the parking lot of Cabin Camp 2 off of Joplin Road and follow signs to the event. To get to Cabin Camp 2, take Exit 150 on Interstate 95 onto Joplin Road. Pass the main park entrance and continue to the entrance to Cabin Camp 2 and 5 (signed). When you reach the split on the gravel road, head towards Cabin Camp 2. This road is a long gravel road (signs will be posted to guide you to Cabin Camp 2).
