<p>During the summer of 1774, crisis engulfed the Massachusetts countryside over Parliament’s heavy-handed response to the destruction of tea by a Boston mob the previous winter. When British Warships closed Boston Harbor and 5,000 Regular Soldiers arrived to enforce a series of laws aimed at punishing the people of Massachusetts, outrage spread rapidly.<br /><br />Join a Park Ranger at the North Bridge in the town of Concord, Massachusetts to explore how the events of 1774 represented a dramatic escalation in the political crisis that put the people of Massachusetts on the path toward rebellion. Learn the stories of ordinary people forced to choose sides and discuss the dangers they encountered as neighbors turned on neighbors, declaring dissenters as “Enemies to their Country.”</p>

<p><span data-teams="true">Throughout the summer of 1776, the people of Concord continued to support the evolving American war effort. Citizens continued to manufacture military supplies to send off to the Continental Army. Many former Minutemen again answered the call to arms, and embarked on a 200-mile journey to defend Fort Ticonderoga against a British invasion. Loved ones provided material and moral support to those serving at the front. Join park staff and volunteers for this special 250th commemorative living history event to explore the experiences of a community at war.</span></p>

<p><strong>Meet at North Bridge Visitor Center</strong><br />Moments of great importance often hinge upon individuals making decisions in the heat of the moment. At Concord’s North Bridge on April 19, 1775 soldiers on both sides made decisions that changed the course of history. Meet a park ranger at North Bridge Visitor Center for a 40 minute walking tour from the visitor center to the North Bridge battle site. Learn about the battle from the perspective of the participants. Along the way, the 18th century battlefield and landscape will be revealed as you walk in the footsteps of the minute men.</p>

<p>Despite suffering a devastating loss on the Lexington town green early in the morning of April 19, 1775, the Lexington militia company once again formed ranks and marched off to fight the British soldiers for a second time that day. Where did this second battle occur? Walk with a park ranger to the site of the battle. Learn about what happened there and discover how, after nearly two centuries of debate, modern investigative research and technology solved the mystery.</p>

The Minute Men: Neighbors in Arms
<p>What did it mean to be a minute man in 1775? How were they trained and armed? Join a park ranger at the historic Hartwell Tavern in Lincoln MA, where John and Isaac Hartwell, two minute men from the town of Lincoln, lived. Discover the motivations and realities faced by those who volunteered to be “ready at a minute’s warning.” This program may include a musket firing demonstration. Visitors with hearing concerns should exercise caution.</p>
Lokalizacja: The program takes place at the Hartwell Tavern which is located on the Battle Road Trail in Lincoln. The parking area is off of Rt.2A, approximately 1.5 miles west of the I-95/Rt128 ramp.

<p>Imagine a world where a soldier is hated by the very people he is sent to protect. His job is to keep the peace, to stop insurgents from destroying government property and to not harm government employees, yet the very people he is there to protect see him as an invader. Imagine a world where you joined the military just to get a job and two square meals a day. You have been sent halfway around the world to a place where the public spit at you and eventually try to kill you. This is the life of the common British soldier in Boston, and at Lexington and Concord in 1775. Come learn more about the life and experience of the British soldier of 1775 with Park Ranger Roger Fuller, who will be dressed as a British Redcoat, at the North Bridge Visitor Center, 174 Liberty Street, Concord, MA, at 3:00 pm.</p>

"The Empire Strikes Back:" The Battle of Long Island
<p><span data-teams="true"> It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the town of Boston has been liberated, British Imperial troops have landed in New York, and have their sights set on cutting the rebellious colonies in half. Evading the dreaded Imperial fleet, a force of Patriots led by George Washington have established a new base on Brooklyn Heights. The "evil" Lord William Howe, obsessed with defeating Washington, has dispatched thousands of foreign soldiers to aid in his capture of the strategic city. Join park rangers portraying Continental and Hessian soldiers to learn about each side's perspective during the largest land battle of the American Revolutionary War.</span></p>
