<p>Join a ranger at the William J. Wilcox, Jr. Interpretive Center at the K-25 site for a half-hour presentation on the women workers of K-25. Learn about their day-to-day lives, their hardships and treatment, how they faced being female during the Manhattan Project, and how they overcame obstacles. This program is free and accessible to all.</p>

<p>Join Manhattan Project National Historical Park at the East Tennessee History Fair. This FREE curated celebration will take place in and around the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville and will include:</p> <ul> <li>regional historic/cultural organizations</li> <li>living history</li> <li>live music</li> <li>square dancing</li> <li>crafts</li> <li>film screenings</li> <li>children’s activities</li> <li>and more!</li> </ul> <p>The theme will center around our nation’s Semiquincentennial (250th) with a focus on these four pillars: <strong>Celebrate, Commemorate</strong>, <strong>Contemplate,</strong> and <strong>Commit. </strong>These pillars will be woven throughout the event with engagement areas and educational programming materials to spark conversation, encourage reflection, and help broaden our understanding of our diverse region.</p>

Let’s Go Fishing [Oak Ridge, TN]

<p>Manhattan Project National Historical Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee invites youth to learn to fish! This new program aims to promote fishing as an educational, safe, and enjoyable outdoor recreational opportunity to connect youth, ages 12 and under, with the park and their local waters.</p> <p>During each program, youth will work with park rangers and volunteers to learn the basics of fishing, from knot tying to being respectful stewards of the river. These activities, along with hands-on fishing, will earn them a Junior Ranger Angler badge. Each participant will be provided with a fishing pole and basic tackle to use during the program. At the conclusion of the program, our youth-visitors will be given their Junior Ranger Angler Badge and fishing equipment to keep.   </p> <p>This program was made possible with a grant from the National Park Foundation.</p> <p>The National Park Foundation (NPF) is a nonprofit leader and catalyst in safeguarding America's 430+ national parks and ensuring they are accessible and enjoyable — for everyone, forever. As the official nonprofit partner to the National Park Service, NPF works to conserve and preserve threatened wildlife and land, inspire the next generation of park stewards, tell the complete story of American history, and ensure a world-class visitor experience. </p> <p><strong>Fishing equipment is limited to first-time participants only.
