Bird Walk at Lunksoos Boat Launch
<div><span data-olk-copy-source="MailCompose">Join a ranger to see and hear some of the wide variety of resident and migratory birds found at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, including raptors, warblers and various songbirds. While you explore the area around Lunksoos Boat Launch, you may hear more birds than you can see. Bring binoculars and a device with the Merlin app if you have them.</span></div>

<div>The walk will take place on gravel roads and grassy areas. Footing may be uneven.</div>

<div>A vault toilet is available at the Lunksoos Campground.</div>
Lokalizacja: Meet at Lunksoos Boat Launch. From exit 264 on Interstate 95, turn north on Maine State Route 158. After 0.2 miles, turn left on Maine State Route 11 (also known as Grindstone Road.) Follow Route 11 for 6.2 miles. Continue straight onto Swift Brook Road (gravel) for 5.2 miles. At the fork, bear right onto Seboeis Road (gravel). Follow Seboeis Road for 2.5 miles to the Lunksoos Boat Launch. All roads within the monument are unpaved.

<div data-olk-copy-source="MailCompose">Join a ranger to see and hear some of the wide variety of resident and migratory birds found at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, including raptors, warblers and various songbirds. While you walk the paths at Tekαkαpimək Contact Station, you may hear more birds than you can see. Bring binoculars and a device with the Merlin app if you have them.</div>

<div>Paths consist of loose gravel with running and cross slopes up to 6%. The width of the paths ranges from 70" to 86". The distance covered will be approximately 0.25 miles.</div>

<div><strong>Note: Tekαkαpimək Contact Station and its restrooms will not be open during the walk. The closest available vault toilets are at the monument boundary on Swift Brook Road and at the Lunksoos Boat Launch.</strong></div>

Dark Sky Series (1/3) - Home Is Where the Dark Is at Millinocket Memorial Library
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Inspired by the Galileo quote “I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night”, this program talks about the creatures that feel at home in the darkness. It expands to talk about how humans find a sense of home through storytelling under night skies, and how the darkness of night affects our health.</span></p>
<p>This event is indoors and does not contain a stargazing component. Other interactive activities are included. This program is the first in a three part series in partnership between the National Park Service and the MIllinocket Memorial Library. </p>

Dark Sky Series (2/3) - Space: The Final Frontier at Millinocket Memorial Library
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">We’ll explore how curiosity about space and the resulting research has benefited humanity, from the physical objects created for space travel that we now enjoy in our daily lives to the shared sense of accomplishment that comes from achieving the seemingly impossible.</span></p>
<p>This event is indoors and does not contain a stargazing component. Other interactive activities are included. This program is the second in a three part series in partnership between the National Park Service and the MIllinocket Memorial Library.</p>

Dark Sky Series (3/3) - Storytelling By Starlight at Millinocket Memorial Library
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">This program focuses on how stories about stars connect us to the past, help us reflect in the present, and determine the direction of our future. Stories and art come in all different forms, so we’ll explore a variety of mediums used to create imagery and stories of the night sky, and talk about why the stars are often used as a focal point for storytelling.</span></p>
<p>This event is indoors and does not contain a stargazing component. Other interactive activities are included. This program is the final in a three part series in partnership between the National Park Service and the MIllinocket Memorial Library.</p>
