The New Orleans native has toured the world with his own band and with notable bandleaders such as Duke Heitger, Dr. Michael White, and Orange Kellin, and at home can be found performing at venues ranging from classy nightclubs to the riverboats. Pistorius played with early 20th century jazz legends like Chester Zardis, Willie Humphrey, Louis Barbarin, and composer Eubie Blake, and brings their influences and his own authenticity to the stage.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>This program is free and open to the public.</strong></p>

Prairie Acadian Cultural Center - My Louisiana by Cassidy Breaux

<p>Artist Statement:</p> <p>In this series of paintings, I try to depict the relationship the people of <br />South Louisiana have with the surrounding waterways and landscape. <br />Through the use of color and figures, I am telling a story about <br />the hard working people of this area who make a living off of the <br />Louisiana swampland and river systems to support their families. I <br />am from Morgan City, LA and the Cajun culture I grew up in and the <br />surrounding area has heavily influenced my work. I try to paint scenes <br />that show a slice of Louisiana life in either at hard work on the water or <br />a reflective moment. In my landscapes, I try to capture the beauty of <br />the swamps and the marshes of Louisiana. He brings his trio to the park in a program featuring vocalist Saskia Walker and her interpretations of Louisiana Creole songs, jazz standards, along with a deep dive into the rhythmic side of New Orleans music.</p> <p>Jazz vocalist <strong>Saskia Walker</strong> moved to New Orleans in 2019 from her home town of Rome, Italy, to explore its vibrant musical landscape. She has since worked with many notable musicians in recording studios like Esplanade Studios, and live performances at the Spotted Cat and d.b.a. on Frenchman Street and the Maple Leaf uptown. </p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>This program is free and open to the public.</strong></p>

Autumn Dominguez is a versatile saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, bandleader, and educator based out of New Orleans. Though she works primarily as a freelance jazz saxophonist and educator, Dominguez’s eclectic songwriting has recently blossomed and has created a new niche within her community. Her latest original project is an alternative blend of what she calls, “sad girl soul rock”; where her unique vocals, honest lyricism, and clever chord progressions meet her Bird-inspired saxophone playing.</p> <strong>This program is free and open to the public.</strong></div>

She is also a full-time musician on piano, trumpet, and vocals, and is the music director for the all-female supergroup N.O.B.A.B.E and the multi-disciplinary Van Ella Bordella. She is a Board member for the Musicians' Council on Fair Wages, Culture Aid NOLA, and the Camel Toe Lady Steppers, an adjunct professor of piano skills and musician life-skills at Loyola University,a member of the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Fund Working Group, and a voting member of the Recording Academy.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>This program is free and open to the public.</strong></p>

The New Orleans native has toured the world with his own band and with notable bandleaders such as Duke Heitger, Dr. Michael White, and Orange Kellin, and at home can be found performing at venues ranging from classy nightclubs to the riverboats. Pistorius played with early 20th century jazz legends like Chester Zardis, Willie Humphrey, Louis Barbarin, and composer Eubie Blake, and brings their influences and his own authenticity to the stage. </p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>This program is free and open to the public.</strong></p>
