<p>Grand Canyon Geology Talk Ranger Program<br /><br />Enhance your afternoon with quick insights into the geologic story of Grand Canyon at our "Geology Talk" ranger program. Meet in front of Yavapai Geology Museum. Learn how this immense canyon formed and the science behind the landscape. The program is 30 minutes long and is accessible. </p> <ul> <li>Grand Canyon is one-mile deep, up to 18 miles wide, 277 river miles long, and displays more than 20 layers of rock The layers tell stories of oceans, deserts, mountains, and swamps that were once here, brought into existence, then swept away over the vast expanse of time. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Grand Canyon is a geologically young landscape being sculpted from very old rocks. Knowing some of the stories encoded in the rock layers enriches your understanding of our planet and enhances your experience at Grand Canyon.</li> </ul> <p>The program is free of charge. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  The Geology Talk is subject to cancellation, or may be moved indoors due to inclement weather or when lightning danger is present.</p>

Lokalizacja: Yavapai Point is located on Village Loop Road, in between Market Plaza and the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. From the far end of the Yavapai Point parking lot, by the shuttle bus stop, walk the paved path up the hill on your left to the stone museum building, perched on the edge of the canyon rim.

Tematy się różnią i mogą obejmować: adaptację zwierząt i roślin do zmieniających się pór roku, wpływ człowieka na naturę, jak natura inspiruje pisarzy i poetów, rzadkie i zagrożone gatunki oraz wykorzystywanie roślin i zwierząt przez rdzennych mieszkańców.</p><p>Czas trwania programu: 60 minut. Prowadzony codziennie. Idealny dla Młodych Strażników!<br/><br/>Program jest bezpłatny. Dzieci muszą być pod opieką dorosłych. Program może zostać odwołany ze względu na złą pogodę lub niebezpieczeństwo burz.</p>

Lokalizacja: Tuż pod górkę od przystanków autobusowych przy Hermit Road interchange, obok kabin Bright Angel Lodge, znajduje się duży, o wymiarach 60 metrów szerokości na 30 metrów głębokości, dziedziniec otaczający Bright Angel Trailhead wzdłuż krawędzi kanionu. Tam, gdzie szlak zaczyna się opadać do kanionu, znajduje się duża, piaskowcowa płyta z wyrytymi słowami „Bright Angel Trailhead”. Po obu stronach płyty znajdują się duże głazy. Na końcu dziedzińca, z widokiem na szeroki betonowy plac, znajdują się dwie toalety dostępne dla niepełnosprawnych, skierowane na północ, z punktem napełniania butelek po prawej stronie. Głazy wapienne otaczają kilka ogrodów w centrum placu, każdy z kamienną ławką pod wysokimi daszkami zapewniającymi cień. Około 9 metrów na zachód, w dół niewielkiego spadku od stacji wody, znajduje się owalny wybieg dla mułów, otoczony przez 18 kamiennych pylonów, każdy o wymiarach 1 metr kwadratowy i 1,2 metra wysokości, z zawieszonym pomiędzy nimi metalowym rurami. Owe pylony otaczają niski kamienny mur zamykający wybieg o średnicy 30 metrów. Stacja napełniania butelek znajduje się na wolnym powietrzu po zachodniej stronie budynku z toaletami publicznymi, najbliżej kamiennego wybiegu. Do ściany od strony zachodniej przymocowana jest brązowa metalowa klatka otaczająca obszar o wymiarach około 1,8 metra szerokości, 2,4 metra wysokości i 3,6 metra głębokości. Pojedyncze drzwi ze sprężyną są wystarczająco duże, aby mogła przez nie przejść jedna osoba. Wewnątrz dostępnych jest kilka metalowych kranów. Klatka i drzwi ze sprężyną zostały zaprojektowane, aby zapobiegać dostępowi łosi i innych dzikich zwierząt do kranów. Wcześniej, niechronione krany prowadziły do konfliktów między odwiedzającymi a łosiami, skutkując obrażeniami.

History Exhibit | South Rim Village | The Amazing Kolb Brothers - Pioneer Photographers - free

<p data-start="0" data-end="214">Step into the adventurous world of the Kolb Brothers at the “Amazing Kolb Brothers Exhibit” inside historic Kolb Studio — a dramatic house-turned-museum clinging to the edge of the canyon in Grand Canyon Village.</p> <p data-start="216" data-end="481">Examine antique cameras used by the pioneering photographers, view paintings inspired by Grand Canyon landscapes, and watch the brothers’ groundbreaking 1912 motion picture travelogue documenting their river journey down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon.</p> <p data-start="483" data-end="699">Saved from demolition in the 1960s, Kolb Studio remains one of the park’s most recognizable landmarks. Today, it serves as a museum, art gallery, bookstore, and gathering place for visitors near the start of the Bright Angel Trail.</p> <p data-start="701" data-end="1006">Operated by the park’s nonprofit partner, <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Grand Canyon Conservancy</span></span>, the studio offers books, artwork, gifts, hiking essentials, park information, and the “Amazing Kolb Brothers Exhibit,” celebrating the lives and adventures of two brothers who helped shape Grand Canyon history.</p> <p data-start="1008" data-end="1218" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">This summer, visitors will also have a rare chance to go behind the scenes as <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Grand Canyon Conservancy Field Institute</span></span> guides lead special tours of the historic house and photo studio, Tuesday through Saturday at 2:00 pm. </p> <ul> <li><strong>Time</strong>: | 60 minutes (one hour)</li> <li> <p><strong>Participant Size:</strong> 8</p> </li> <li><strong>Price:</strong> <strong>Free </strong>| <strong>Registration Required</strong><br />To secure your spot for the Kolb Studio tour, please call ahead or sign up in person at Kolb Studio. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather or when lightning danger is present.</p>

Lokalizacja: The performance will take place just outside the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, in the central plaza. Attendees can park in Lots 1, 2, 3, or 4. Shuttle access via Blue (Village) Route, Orange (Kaibab) Route, or Purple (Tusayan) Route.
