PROGRAM FULL: Capturing Light in the Gap - Plein Air Painting Program

<p>Update: Reservations are full for this program. No more group reservations will be taken.</p> <p>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p> <p>See the Delaware Water Gap in a new light through a plein air (outdoor painting) class. 🎨🖌️</p> <p>Park Ambassador Terry (also known as the colorblind painter) will guide participants through a painting by exploring how light impacts the way we see nature.</p> <p>Though this event is geared towards people who aren't practiced or have been hesitant to start painting, seasoned painters are welcome and encouraged to share their insights. Don’t worry about the perfect composition or the outcome! Just have fun, enjoy the outdoors and experience the freedom of painting.</p> <p>Canvases, paint, brushes, easels, and other supplies are provided.</p> <p>This program may be subject to change in case of inclement or hazardous weather.</p>

Paul Revere's (Bike) Ride - Bike with a Ranger Program

<p>Join us for Paul Revere's Bike Ride, a family-friendly ranger-led bike ride that brings American History to the trail.</p> <p>We will bike a relatively flat two miles south on the McDade Trail from the Dingmans Campground while we learn about one of the memorable Revolutionary stories.</p> <p>Call (570) 828-1551 to make a reservation.</p> <p>Bring your bike, helmet, water, and enjoy a journey through history.</p> <p>Bike rentals are available at Dingmans Campground while supplies last.</p>

Sounds of Appalachia: Traditional Music History, Performance, and Hands-on Program

<div class="xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs">From the winding ridges in North Carolina to the peaks of southern New York, the Appalachian Mountains have inspired art for hundreds of years.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">Appalachian folk music is a musical style inspired by the Scots-Irish, English, and other European immigrants, and included ballads, fiddle tunes, reels and Sacred Harp singing. Some of the rhythms and instruments also came from African American traditions creating a totally new American Folk style that builds from the notes of fiddles, banjos, and dulcimers.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">The Appalachian dulcimer is a true American folk instrument developed by the people of the Appalachian Mountains.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">Learn more about the music that these mountains made by attending this volunteer-led program. Attendees will enjoy a history of Appalachian music, a performance of traditional Appalachian songs, and an opportunity to strum a few simple tunes on the Appalachian Dulcimer.</div>

Complete the pet-friendly activities with your pup to earn the Delaware Water Gap NRA BARK Ranger badge and a certificate.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">There will also be a pet-friendly, ranger-led walk on the Toms Creek trail at noon.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">This event is rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Hike with a Ranger - Military Trail from Walpack Center to Van Campen Inn

<div class="xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs">Join a ranger on a hike along a historic road trace from Walpack Center to the Van Campen Inn and back. This trek over the Walpack Ridge is about 2.5 miles, moderate difficulty, and full of nature and history!</div> <div class="xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">When arriving at the Van Campen Inn, participants can enjoy a docent-led tour of the mid-1700s yaugh house located in the Delaware River Valley.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">Please be prepared for the hike with sturdy shoes, plenty of water, snacks, and bug spray.</div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s"> </div> <div class="x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">This hike is rain or shine but is subject to change or cancellation due to inclement or hazardous weather.</div>
