Habitat Restoration - Volunteer Invasive Plant Removal
<p>Are you looking for a way to get involved at Cuyahoga Valley National Park? Join us for our <a title="Invasive Plant Removal Drop-in" href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/invasive-plant-removal-drop-in-august-13-tickets-1988935600923?aff=oddtdtcreator">Invasive Plant Removal Drop-in</a> to improve habitat for native plants and wildlife. Invasive species overcrowd native species, making it difficult for them to thrive. Your efforts will help improve soil quality, restore native plants, and create better habitat for native wildlife. Drop-ins are a great opportunity for both first-time and veteran volunteers to get involved in their national park.<br /> <br />You will use hand tools such as loppers and saws to remove invasive plants. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Volunteers who are 10-15 years of age must have parent or guardian supervision at the project site. Volunteers who are 16-17 years of age are only required to have a parent or guardian sign their Volunteer Agreement form.<br /> <br />**Advanced registration is required for all individuals. Only volunteers who pre-registered will be permitted to participate. Outdoor work gloves and eye protection will be provided, but volunteers are permitted to bring personal equipment. We will have a water cooler. Please bring a refillable water bottle.</p>

The Boston Gallery: Nature Includes You
<p>The Boston Gallery is a flagship initiative of the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Arts in the Park program, enriching visitor experiences and strengthening community connections through visual, cultural, and performing arts programming in partnership with artists across Northeast Ohio. Curated in partnership with the <a title="Museum of Creative Human Art (MoCHA)" href="https://museumofcreativehumanart.org/">Museum of Creative Human Art (MoCHA)</a>, the Boston Gallery features rotating exhibitions of nature‑centric artwork, refreshed several times each year.</p>
<p><strong>On Exhibit: Nature Includes You edition 2026</strong></p>
<p><a title="Nature Includes You" href="https://www.nps.gov/cuva/planyourvisit/nature-includes-you.htm#/?showEmptyDates=true">Nature Includes You</a> is a traveling photo exhibition and program series that explores the rich relationships that people of color have with nature in Northeast Ohio, past and present. Nature is all around us: in our communities, gardens, parks, and yards. It nourishes and teaches us throughout our lives. Nature Includes You edition 2026 is an updated version of the exhibition first shown in 2025. It includes monoprints created during a workshop at Zygote Press as part of a Nature Includes You program.</p>
<p>Nature Includes You is a project of Cuyahoga Valley National Park in collaboration with MoCHA and Conservancy for CVNP. A total of 15 organizations contributed images of people from diverse Northeast Ohio communities. The show highlights the work of more than 20 photographers.</p>

<h4>This Month: Rob Blair: Composition and Editing to Convey the Full Experience</h4>
<p>Have you ever been awestruck by a moment in nature, only to find that your photos don't come close to conveying the actual experience? The Photo Society is pleased that fine-art photographer Rob Blair will join us to share his knowledge and experience. Translating a powerful, multi-sensory moment into a flat image is one of the greatest challenges in nature and landscape photography. It’s a challenge only amplified in today’s fast-paced world of distracted scrolling.<br /> <br />For the past 14 years, Rob has focused on bridging this gap through attunement, composition, and creative editing techniques. In this presentation, Rob will share both his philosophical approach and technical workflow for capturing and editing the diverse scenes of Northeast Ohio.</p>

<p>Join the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park for a mindful nature walk on the Towpath Trail with Dr. Saira Ismail! Enjoy a scenic walk along the Cuyahoga River, beginning at Lock 29 Trailhead. Dr. Saira Ismail, Nature Rx advisor, will guide participants while sharing the science behind mindful time in nature.</p>
<p>What is a mindfulness walk? While we may be tempted to get our steps in or consider every walk a workout, a mindfulness walk invites you to slow your pace and employ your senses to take in the natural world around you. Mindfulness walks can take on many forms, sometimes silent or practicing breathwork. Other times, isolating one sense at a time. In these moments, you are encouraged to let go of the stresses of the day and simply enjoy the natural environment.</p>
<p>Accessibility note: This program takes place on a relatively flat, even trail and will be less than one mile in length. Participants are welcome to bring trekking poles or a hiking staff for added support. As noted above, mindfulness walks are intentionally slow-paced with frequent stops for discussion. It is a great option for those looking for a more accessible outdoor experience at CVNP.</p>

<li>Parking/Directions: Parking is available at Lock 29 Trailhead, located at 1648 Mill Street, Peninsula, OH 44264. We will meet near the trailhead kiosk.</li>
<li>What to wear/bring: Please wear closed-toed, sturdy shoes that you do not mind getting dirty if conditions are muddy.</li>
<li>Weather: This is a rain or shine event, so please dress accordingly so that you are comfortable. In the case of severe weather (lightning, hail, storms, etc.) we will cancel or postpone.</li>
<li>Participants will be notified of any event changes via email.</li>
