<p>Join us for a special ranger-guided hike on our longest backcountry trail! The hike will begin at the Peñasco Blanco trailhead (at the Pueblo del Arroyo parking lot) at 9:00am. Be prepared for the heat and a long hike - bring sunscreen, a hat, comfortable clothes, water, and food. You will visit three great houses (Kin Kletso, Casa Chiquita, and Peñasco Blanco) and see petroglyphs and pictographs along the way. The ranger-guided portion will end at Peñasco Blanco; you will be able to walk back to the trailhead on your own and at your own pace. The total length of this trail is about 7.5 miles (12 km) roundtrip, with an elevation gain of 500 ft (150 m). There is no registration required - join us on this special backcountry hike in celebration of the start of National Park Week!</p>

<p>Ed Kabotie is an artist, musician and educator of both Tewa and Hopi descent. As a visual artist, he follows in the footsteps of his Hopi father and grandfather. As a solo musician, Ed is a flautist, guitarist, and composer of multilingual compositions. He also heads up a reggae/rock band called Tha 'Yoties. Ed considers himself to be an "edu-tainer", combining visual art, music and spoken word to broaden people's understanding of the ancient and contemporary people of the Four Corners aka Colorado Plateau region. </p> <div>A Puebloan View of the Stars I & II</div> <div>On Friday, September 4th & Saturday, September 5th at 7pm, Ed will share a two part presentation on how ancient and contemporary Puebloan cosmologies relate to astronomical observation. Please meet in the visitor center auditorium for this free presentation.</div> <div> </div> <div>This presentation will include artwork from the Kabotie family and music by Ed.</div>
