Drop-in Stewardship Volunteering with Friends of Acadia
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">As a Friends of Acadia drop-in volunteer, you’ll see a new side of Acadia, feel a deeper connection to the park, and leave this national treasure a little better than you found it.</span></p>
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Our Drop-in Stewardship Volunteer Program occurs every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from June through the end of October. While being led by our amazing Volunteer Crew Leaders, you’ll help with important work like cutting back vegetation, clearing drainage features, building bogwalk, tread work, weeding carriage roads, and other tasks.</span></p>
<p><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Projects run from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., weather permitting, and no experience or reservation is required!</span></p>
Lokalizacja: Park and meet at the Hulls Cove Storage Facility, located near the Hulls Cove Visitor Center, Visitor Center Rd, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. (This is the same location as in 2024. Park HQ is under construction.)
Enter via the Hulls Cove Visitor Center entrance off Route 3 in Bar Harbor. Continue past the Visitor Center parking lot on Paradise Hill Road. When the road splits, bear left to the Hulls Cove Storage Facility. (Note: There is an “authorized vehicles only” as well as a “do not enter” sign, but if you are there to volunteer just continue past those! Don’t worry, we’ll have signs out to help guide you!)

<div data-ogsc="black" data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Always wanted to learn how to fish? Don’t have access to a pond or ocean near you? Not sure what gear you need to get started? The wait is over! Join a park ranger for a two-hour program geared towards kids ages 7-15 and fish along the shorelines of Acadia. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The program includes the use of a fishing pole and personal floatation device.</div>

<li data-ogsc="black">All children must have an adult present throughout the two-hour program. Those 16 and older are not able to fish unless they possess a Maine freshwater fishing license. </li>
<li data-ogsc="black">Participants must wear traction footwear (sneakers, hiking boots, muck boots, etc.). Flip-flops and crocs will not be allowed. </li>
<li data-ogsc="black">Make sure participants come with plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and hat. SPF lightweight clothing is recommended. </li>

Cultures and Coasts: Ocean Path Hike
<div data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">Hike with a ranger along the Ocean Path trail and learn about Acadia's connection to the culture, history and beauty of coastal Maine. This 2-mile guided hike begins at the Gorham Mountain parking lot. Visitors can park in the parking lot or in the right lane of the road with all four tires on the pavement.</div>

<div>Trail is a mix of flat gravel and rocky uphill granite stones. Not recommend for visitors who cannot walk up granite steps. Closed toed shoes, bug spray, water, sunscreen, snacks and extra clothes are recommend.</div>

<div class="x_elementToProof"><strong>Trail Conditions:</strong> We will walk 0.5 miles on the carriages roads, heading toward the East side of Eagle Lake. The carriage roads will be wide, gravel paths with little elevation. Be prepared to walk 0.5 miles back to the starting location of the program after the tour, or continue on your own walk on the carriage roads!</div>

Save Our Summits Hike: Volunteer Event with Friends of Acadia
<p>Help Save Our Summits in Acadia by participating in our summit restoration work. Hike up Penobscot or Sargent Mountain with a bag of soil on Wednesdays and Fridays, June to mid-September, 2026. <a id="https://friendsofacadia.org/get-involved/events/save-our-summits-registration/|" href="https://friendsofacadia.org/get-involved/events/save-our-summits-registration/" data-bs-toggle="modal" data-bs-target="#myModal" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" data-remote="/common/commonspot/customcf/modals/modal_intercept.cfm?targetURL=https%3A%2F%2Ffriendsofacadia.org%2Fget-involved%2Fevents%2Fsave-our-summits-registration%2F">Advanced registration is required</a>.<br /><br />Acadia National Park, in collaboration with its partners-in-science, Friends of Acadia and Schoodic Institute, invite tenacious hikers to carry bags of soil to the summits of Penobscot and Sargent Mountains. This soil is integral to the <a href="https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/summitacad.htm" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">ongoing summit restoration efforts</a> in Acadia National Park.</p>
